Great Toys from Playhao

In this day and age, toys are a dime a dozen. Look anywhere and you will find them. The challenge is to find interesting, quality toys with broad applications that stimulate exploration, creativity, and problem solving. That’s why I wanted to introduce a shop called Playhao

Playhao has a carefully selected range of products that you will not find easily. The toys are beautiful and well made – the kind of toys that the Montessori Method encourages for our children. What I like especially are their brain toys (as most of you can guess, I’m quite obsessed about brain development). Here are just some of the interesting toys they have:

Tegu toys are designed to “unlock the mind and inspire creative experiences which captivate children in safe, natural and innovative ways”. They offer a range of magnetic wooden blocks that can be connected together to create anything your child can imagine.

Cuboro is a marble track system consisting of cubed elements made of natural beech wood with surface features as well as tunnel functions. Countless combinations are possible – starting from simple two-dimensional structures up to complex three-dimensional ones.

Zometool has a really interesting background and its scientific and mathematical applications has been pretty eye-opening. For most kids, Zometool is a way to unite Art, Math and Science with play.

Linking the geometry of the ancient Greeks to quantum physics, from inner space to outer space, Zometool is positioned to be the basis of spatial interpretation for the new millennium.

Grimms is a collection of brightly coloured wooden toys painted with water base stains and oils. What I especially like about this collection are their creative and magnetic puzzles like the ones featured below:

These, I think, are my favourites. If you’re in Singapore, you should visit them at their retail outlet in Forum the Shopping Mall on Orchard Road – #02-15. Alternatively, you can shop online from their website Playhao. They have a lot of other products that are worth looking at.

If you’re not around Singapore, you can also find these toys on Amazon:
