From Cadbury with Love – a Sweet, Chocolate Experience

G2 is learning about chocolate at school as part of his enquiry unit. One of the projects he is working on involves the research and development of a fictitious chocolate treat. After conducting some market research, his team will have to design and promote their idea.

Our school encourages parent engagement to support our children’s learning. When we were invited to the launch of Cadbury Dairy Milk’s newest treat – Lickables, it was the perfect opportunity for G2 to witness a real-world example. Not that the fact that it involved chocolate and Pokemon toys had anything to do with it, of course. Or that G1 had overheard my conversation on the phone then begged and pleaded to be taken along.

The boys and I traipsed over to the Talent Lounge and spent a delightful morning sharing many moments of love together.

Cadbury with Love

“Our ambition is to continue being an iconic and well-loved brand for Malaysians. We are optimistic that Cadbury Dairy Milk in Lickables will drive a sustained growth for our business in Malaysia. As a category leader we see limitless opportunities with this breakthrough product which has already become a huge success for Cadbury Dairy Milk in other markets and judging from our consumer research and feedback, we are sure that Malaysian consumers will love it as well.” – Vikram Karwal, Mondelēz
International Associate Director of Southeast Asia, Chocolate.

The Wall of Love

The morning began with lots of fun activities for the little kids and big kids alike. We started at the “Wall of Love” where the top three messages would be selected to win a year’s supply of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate! G1 wasted no time getting to work on his masterpiece:

Cupcake Decorating

Then it was off to the cup-cake decorating stations to design a cupcake:

G2 met the lovely Azura, our emcee for the day, and chatted with her for a while.

In between it all were several trips to the chocolate fountain for chocolate covered fruit.

Finally, it was time for the unveiling of the new Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate treat – a giant mock-up of the new Cadbury Dairy Milk Lickables! Inside it was lots of Lickables for the children to try. G2 was beside himself with joy when he discovered that his toy was none other than Pikachu, his favourite Pokemon character.

Vikram Karwal, Mondelēz International Associate Director of Southeast Asia, Chocolate, revealed the product to guests, officially launching the product in Malaysia

Food Art

The last activity involved a food art demonstration with food artist Samantha Lee.

Celebrity food stylist, Samantha Lee, conducted a workshop for parents and children to bond, in the spirit of #CadburyWithLove

After showing us a few tricks of the trade, she invited us to come up with our own food art designs. The theme was “out of this world”, featuring rocket ships, the planets, and a Cadbury Dairy Milk Lickable UFO. This was G1’s first attempt at food art:

Okay, so it needs a bit more work. But he did win one of the prizes from the “Wall of Love” competition!

The boys had a marvelous time and couldn’t stop talking about it all the way home. I wonder if the whole experience has inspired G2 with his chocolate project for school.
