When it comes to tech time, it is important to be aware of what your children are doing. Experts recommend getting involved in the games your children are playing – even if they bore you to death. So now I have a Minecraft account that makes me giddy whenever I try to play it.
I have also played:
- LEGO Harry Potter
- Chemcaper
- Jurassic Park
- Amazing Alex
- Angry Birds: Bad Piggies
- How to Train Your Dragon
- Where’s My Water
- …and a whole lot of other games G2 wanted to play.
Recently, I added Dwarven Den to the list…
About Dwarven Den
In Dwarven Den, you play a jolly, little person on an epic quest. Your people discover that their dwarven ancestors are trapped in vast underground mines. Your task is to dig deep through ancient civilizations, solving challenging puzzles along the way, in hopes of saving the other dwarves. Can you dig it?
It’s simple enough, harmless enough, but highly addictive. Check out the gameplay below:
What started out as just “checking the game” ended up with the completion of all the levels with 3 stars. Dwarven Den has been out for some two years now and I think the hype surrounding it has died. If, for some reason, you missed it and only just discovered this game, you can scroll down for hints – if you want them.
Weapons
In some of the hints I’ve seen, they suggest forging weapons to get better weapons. IMHO that’s just tedious and painfully slow. It’s okay for the start, but once you start seeing the button “upgrade weapon”, save up your gold and do that instead. The easiest way to earn gold is to keep playing Level 53 over and over until you have enough gold.
Helmet
As you advance in levels, start looking for the Mighty Flashlight Cap. It allows you to see up to 2 extra blocks away which is necessary if you’re going for 3 stars in every level. In some levels, the gold chests are hidden out of view and you will not be able to reach them without the Mighty Flashlight Cap. Another Helmet that is also good to have is the one that gives you Crystal Foresight (I forget what it’s called). The Energy level for the Crystal Foresight helmet is kinda low but you can always upgrade with gold.
Backpack
Of all the equipment, the backpacks offer the most interesting benefits. Save up your gems and buy a Mighty Azure Backpack as soon as you are able – that will help you get through a number of levels without having to go through the hard way. The Might Azure Backpack gives you a drill that allows you to remove up to 4 blocks in one go without wasting energy or compromising stability of the mine.
The other backpack that’s good to have in your arsenal is the Might Rock Backpack – it reduces your tech usage by 50% so you can lay out more traps, dig more tunnels, build more bridges, and what not. These two backpacks alone will see you through all the levels. If you have enough gems, you can also purchase the Mighty Rock Backpack from the Market.
Earning Gems
In some levels, there is an extra chest (normal chest not the gold one that gives you stars) that contains gems. This chest will only give you gems while you are still working to beat the level. Once you pass the level and come back, the chest will not longer give you gems. Instead, you will only find equipment. Best way to earn gems is to keep replaying the level without beating it.
