For Christmas, G1 received a board game called Code Breaking. It was a bit of a blast from the past because I used to play this when I was a child, except I knew the game as “Mastermind“.
Code Breaking is a fun and educational way to help the boys develop:
- logic and reasoning skills
- visual perception and spatial awareness
- concentration skills
If you are not familiar with this game, here’s how it works:
Code Breaking is a two player game where one person sets the code and the other has to break it through guess work and logical reasoning. The code is made up of a series of coloured pins placed in random positions chosen by the “coder”. The “code breaker” will make a guess and the “coder” will leave clues:
- a black pin means the the colour and position is correct
- a white pin means the colour is correct but the position is incorrect
- no pin means the colour is wrong
The winner is the “code breaker” who breaks the code in the fewest number of guesses.
