Fun Activities: Running a Class Store

G2’s class ran a store at school to raise money for charity… They made a whole bunch of stuff for the kids to sell to their parents. This was my haul from my shopping trip:

My haul from G2's shop

Running a store can be a terrific learning experience for children and a great way to introduce children into the world of entrepreneurship. Children can learn all kinds of practical life skills, such as:

  • the application of math in the handling of money
  • planning the store and what to sell
  • fundraising for charities
  • communication skills – talking to customers and the art of selling

And these are only a few of the many lessons they can learn. G2 and his classmates are still pretty young so a class store for the parents is a nice and easy way to ease the children into the business world. If you want to take it further with a group of older children, you can check out programs like Bizworld.
