Birthday Party Themes: Despicable Me Minions – Happy Birthday Hercules!

Hercules is 4 years old…

I really thought we were done with parties after our last Jurassic Themed party for Aristotle. I was thinking of a small family dinner with a cake-cutting session and “ang pows” (Chinese red packets with money in them) for presents. Evidently, I was deluding myself.

I really hate planning parties so I’m really grateful to my two creative SILs and my MIL who pitched in so much:

  • SIL1 – cake and party food (she provides catering services – The Haute Food Co – if you’re interested)

Party food

  • MIL – nasi lemak and fried bee hoon (I didn’t get pictures but it was all gone by the end of the party so if that’s any indication of how good it is…)
  • SIL2 – all the decorations, party packs and party games

Minion stuff

With such a formidable team, who needs an event organiser?

If you want to personalise it, you can do something like this…

How to Make Your Pinata…

I can’t give you a step by step, but these were the pictures my SIL took for me. All I can say is that it is an awful lot of work for something that will be bashed to bits…

3. Minion Photo Booth

Take pictures with Minion props… Not really a game and I think the adults had more fun with this, really.

Birthday Cake

Our birthday cakes have always been provided by my SIL. This year, my SIL was strapped for time (she had too many orders) so she had to outsource the sugar work for the Minions. The cake below that you see is The Haute Food Co‘s famous chocolate cake. It is assembled entirely by my SIL except for the Minions that were made by Sugar Lab.

If you have the time, the patience and the creativity, you can actually make a lot of stuff on your own. If you don’t, or you simply don’t have the inclination for it, there are always ready-made Despicable Me Party Stuff to be purchased…
