About BrillKids Aesop’s Fables

Unlike regular books, there are unique features to BrillKid’s Aesop’s Fables that make these books unlike your traditional children’s storybooks. The problem with traditional story books is that they often contain words and pictures on the same page. While they may be great for parents who are reading the story to a child, they aren’t so useful in helping the child learn to read. When words and pictures are present on the same page, the child’s attention is naturally drawn to the pictures rather than the words. Additionally, some storybooks complicate matters by printing the words on coloured backgrounds or on the pictured background.

The ideal book for helping children learn to read should contain words on a white background with the picture hidden from view and only to be seen once the words have been read. And that is exactly what BrillKids Aesop’s Fables books have:

  • Text and illustration presented on separate pages
  • More spacing between words to make it easier to see words individually
  • A blank flap extension to cover the illustrations as you direct your child’s attention to the written text

So that when you read the book to your child, you start first by reading the text with your child while the flap covers the picture.

After reading the text, you can open the flap to show your child the accompanying image and relate what you see to the words you have read.

As you turn to the next page, you use the flap to cover the next picture before reading the text on the following page.

Watch the following video for a demonstration of how best to use these story books.

When you purchase BrillKids’ Aesop’s Fables books, you will also receive a code to download the digital copies of the stories to be used with the Little Reader Software.

    1. Hi Elysa,

I think the books will be shipped from Hong Kong. If you want to check shipping costs, you can visit their online store, add one set of Aesop’s Fables books to your shopping cart, add your shipping address and you should be able to see how much it will cost to ship to your country. It costs $13.86 to ship to Malaysia.
