Mid-Brain Activation and Blind-Fold Reading

I’ve been asked to share what I think about Mid-Brain Activation and Blind-Fold Reading.  Well, here goes…

From what I have read on their two websites (click the links above to see what they’re about), they make a lot of references to Makoto Shichida’s Right Brain Development philosophies which leads me to believe that they are founded on Shichida’s principles.  In fact, blind-fold reading sounds a lot like Quantum Speed Reading as described by Yumiko Tobitani – and since Tobitani was a teacher at the Shichida academy, I suppose that is why they all tie in together.

In her book, Tobitani also talks about using a blindfold as a means to developing the QSR ability. QSR is the ability to absorb the contents of a book without reading it.  It can be done through several methods – flying into the book, fanning the pages of the book, or “reading” it blind-folded.  The concept is that you absorb the information through the waves emitted by the book based on the theory of quantum mechanics that everything around us has its own wave pattern.  Tobitani believes that blind-folding can facilitate the development of the QSR ability (provided you do all the exercises properly).

Talking about QSR and blind-fold reading invites a lot of skepticism.  As I’ve written before, QSR (along with ESP)  is a part of right brain education and to leave it out would be to report only half the story.  Do I believe in QSR and ESP?  Well, I believe in right brain education and I believe in the philosophies that they teach.  I am amazed by what the children who have been through right brain education are able to do – speed reading, rapid mental math, perfect pitch, sports excellence.  If they can achieve such excellence, why not QSR and ESP?  Why not the ability to heal?

In TweedleWink, Pamela Hickein also talks about how children have the ability to learn in a 360 degree fashion.  They don’t necessarily need to look directly at material in order to learn it.  I don’t know about you, but being able to learn about something that is happening behind you sounds  like blind-fold reading, too.  So I think we can conclude that Mid-Brain Activation / Blind-Fold Reading is part of the right brain pedagogy.

The good news about Blind-Fold Reading is that they have a lot more video footage available on Youtube showing what children can do compared to Shichida, Heguru, or TweedleWink.  Check out the following video for example…

For the skeptics: yes, I realise that a video can be rigged and that video footage is not conclusive evidence that something is true.  Well, I’m not here to convince you to believe in right brain education or the things it can do.  I merely report the findings and you can choose to believe it or not.  What do I believe?  I still don’t know, but I am intensely curious about QSR and ESP.  I have been since I was a child.  I also send both my sons for right brain education and supplement their classes with right brain activities at home.  I guess that means that I do believe in it.
