Review: Kemby Side-Kick Baby Carrier and Diaper Bag

I’ve always preferred wearing my babies around rather than lugging a stroller.  The local wheel-unfriendly terrain doesn’t exactly inspire me to bring out the stroller either.  As a result, going out with a baby usually meant going on a camping trip.  I would have baby in a carrier in front of me and the backpack on my back with the wet wipes, diapers, spare change of clothes and other baby stuff.  Many a time I really wished I had a baby carrier backpack so I wouldn’t have to lug around so many things.

It appears someone has heard my silent wishes.  It’s called the Kemby Sidekick:

It’s a baby carrier and diaper bag in one with the follow features:

  • compartment for diapers and wipes
  • baby wipes case
  • changing pad
  • mobile phone pocket
  • key clip
  • insulated bottle pouch
  • double side pockets for bottles or sippy cups
  • plenty of pockets to compartmentalise everything

Last but not least, it’s very hip – pardon the pun.  I’m no fashion guru but I think the Kemby Side-Kick certainly wouldn’t look amiss sitting on the shelf in a designer handbag store.  This bag was definitely designed with Mummy-fashion in mind.

It is slightly more expensive than your top of the range baby carriers, but considering you’re getting two in one in a rather stylish package, I reckon it’s worth it.  It would cost you more to get the equivalent as a separate diaper bag and baby carrier and I’m sure you wouldn’t look quite as coordinated.

The Kemby Side-Kick is available from Cloth Diapers & Baby Carriers by Tiny Tapir at 3F-1D Bangsar Village II (new wing – between Fast Track Kids and Fit For 2, opposite Kidsports), Jalan Telawi, Bangsar.  It is retailing at RM 599.

Alternatively, it is currently on special at Amazon for $85.73 (normal price is $165).

I saw this at the time I was shopping for the Scootababy and I was very tempted to get it instead.  I opted for comfort over style in the end and got the Scootababy but it was a tough call.
